Hello, my name is Angela Cantu. I am from Texas in the United States.
I graduated college in 2023 with a Bachelor’s degree in Forensic Science.
I came to Korea and have been teaching at Francis Parker Songdo since November of 2023.
When I was younger, I often shadowed my Mother and Aunt, who are both exceptional teachers.
I gained valuable teaching experience by tutoring students whilst in Texas and now, I am happy to be a teacher!
I teach in an encouraging and creative environment which supports children’s growth and development.
I enjoy building a strong rapport and connection with students through teaching English.
Learning a new language is always challenging, but I always strive to make the journey easier and fun for students.
Derik
Hello, my name is Derik van Tonder and l'm
from South Africa. I completed my studies in Accounting and then came to Korea to pursue a career in teaching.
My brother taught in Korea for 5 years and hearing him talk about his experience, made me interested in experiencing it for myself.
As I navigate my first year in the classroom, i'm constantly growing both professionally and personally.
I hope to further my knowledge in teaching by pursuing a PGCE, which will give me invaluable teaching skills as I move forward with my career in teaching. This qualification will allow me to blend my accounting expertise with strong pedagogical techniques, ultimately helping me become a more effective educator.

Eliya
Hello! My name is Eliya.
I am from the United States.
I received my Bachelor of Arts in Equity and Education from the University of Texas at San Antonio.
During my time at UTSA, I was able to gain valuable teaching experience from working with multiple teachers in Texas.
I observed, learned, and taught students from different grade levels.
My goal as a teacher is to create a safe, creative, and fun environment for students to learn in the classroom.
I am extremely grateful for this opportunity to teach students at Francis Parker.
In the future, I aspire to teach in multiple countries while experiencing different cultures.
These experiences will allow me to be able to create a classroom where all students feel represented and respected.
This is very important to me as I continue to grow as an educator.
Again, I am thankful for this experience! I am excited to be teaching at Francis Parker Songdo this year!
